Australian driver Jake Parsons won his third race of the season, while KCMG driver James Munro secured the title with a fifth-place finish in the penultimate race of the 2014 FMCS season at Shanghai.
Munro started from pole ahead of Parsons, but it was the Meritus driver who got the better start, darting past the Kiwi on the main straight. Munro tried to regain the lead, but went off the track in the process and lost out to Philip Hamprecht and Dan Wells.
Munro then didn’t to keep his closest rival Matthew Solomon behind, but finishing just a place behind the Eurasia driver was enough for him to clinch the crown.
Hamprecht kept Wells at bay for second, securing the first podium of his part-time campaign. Solomon and Munro followed close behind in fourth and fifth as Darma Hutomo claimed sixth for Humpuss, ahead of Ronald Wu and Pu Jun Jin. Yuja Motojima and series newcomer Aidan Read completed the top ten.
