Pace Performance and Stefan Bostandjiev scored their first single-seater triumph in GB4’s reversed-grid race at Silverstone.
ADM’s Jason Pribyl and Douglas Motorsport’s Enzo Hallmann were due to occupy the front row for the final contest of the weekend, but Hallmann and KMR Sport’s Alex O’Grady grinded to a halt on the formation lap.
Following a second formation lap, Bostandjiev made a lightning getaway from the second grow to beat Pribyl into Copse, the latter fending off a further challenge from Elite Motorsport’s Ary Bansal to hold second into Maggotts and Becketts.
Bansal was soon past on the Hangar Straight, however, and Hillspeed’s Leandro Juncos also swept around the outside of Pribyl at Stowe.
Juncos pulled off another brave move around the outside of Bansal at Abbey for second, while Pribyl tumbled further down the order after getting sideways and taking to the escape road.
Bansal resisted early pressure from Fortec Motorsports’ Thomas Ingram Hill and his team-mate Isaac Phelps thereon before setting his sights on Juncos ahead.
The Indian racer fought his way past into second through Brooklands and Luffield, only for Juncos to immediately draw back alongside and use the inside line into Copse to reclaim the place.
Juncos briefly broke clear of his pursuer and closed in on Bostandjiev, but soon was backed up into the clutches of Bansal once more as the lead train grew to six cars.
On the final lap, Juncos defended from Bansal on the Hangar Straight but the pair made light contact – leaving the latter visibily frustrated afterwards. The battle was then ended prematurely by a red flag after Pribyl’s car caught fire.
Bostandjiev therefore took the win ahead of Juncos and Bansal, with Ingram Hill and Phelps remaining fourth and fifth.
Close behind them was Hillspeed’s Daniel Guinchard, who climbed 11 places to sixth to leave Silverstone with his healthy championship lead intact – only conceding one point to Bansal over the weekend.
Elite’s Alex Kattoulas was seventh ahead of Arden’s Leon Wilson, Graham Brunton Racing’s Callum Baxter and Fortec’s Luca Magnussen.
Magnussen’s team-mate Jack Taylor followed up his race one and two wins by tangling with Douglas Motorsport’s Dayton Coulthard at Luffield on lap one as he tried to recover from 12th on the reversed grid. He lost his front wing in the incident and finished 24th.
