HMD Motorsports’ Nolan Siegel went fastest in the second Indy Nxt practice session in St. Petersberg.
As in FP1, two red flag period disrupted running, though this time they came towards the end of the session.
Siegel’s time of 1m04.8896s put him just 0.0818 seconds ahead of Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Reece Gold in second, with HMD’s Christian Rasmussen a further 0.0063s back.
After limited running in the first practice session of the season, Rasmussen hit the top of the times early on in FP2. He wouldn’t stay there for long, as laptimes rapidly tumbled. Matteo Nannini and Louis Foster both took turns in first place, and it was Nannini who was ahead when the first red flag came out after Kyffin Simpson hit the tyre barriers at Turn 4 and damaged the front-left of his car.
Running resumed with 16 minutes left on the clock and continued unimpeded for 12 of those. After that, Josh Green hit the wall at the exit of Turn 9, bringing out the red flags again and an early end to the session.
Most of the field managed to find improvements between the two stoppages. Siegel jumped up to second with one improvement, then went faster again to claim top spot.
Josh Pierson jumped to fourth late on, with FP1 pacesetter Jacob Abel slotting into fifth. Nannini dropped back to seventh by the chequered flag, with Foster just ahead in sixth. Danial Frost, Rasmus Lindh and Hunter McElrea completed the top 10.
