Alex Ninovic took advantage of a frenetic battle behind him to comfortably lead a Rodin Motorsport one-two in the opening GB3 race of the weekend at Silverstone.
Ninovic finished almost five seconds clear of Gianmarco Pradel to extend his points lead, while Keanu Al Azhari passed Hitech GP team-mate Deagen Fairclough to complete the podium.
The start was delayed after JHR Developments’ Noah Lisle was wheeled off the grid with an issue, resulting in a second formation lap and the race distance being reduced to 11 laps. Xcel Motorsport’s Yevan David was forced to start from the pitlane due to stalling on the original formation lap.
Ninovic converted pole into the lead ahead of Argenti with Prema’s Reza Seewooruthun once racing got underway, while Pradel moved ahead of Fairclough into third.
Seewooruthun soon came under pressure from Pradel and Fairclough as Ninovic built a two-second lead in three laps.
That advantage had more than doubled approaching the halfway stage as the battle for second ramped up. Pradel dived up the inside of Seewooruthun into Stowe, and having been unable to make the move stick tried again into Club. Fairclough took advantage to sweep around the outside both as they headed onto the Hamilton Straight.
Pradel immediately drew back alongside Fairclough, and eventually snatched second after a wheel-to-wheel battle lasting several corners.
The pair locked horns again on the Wellington Straight, and Seewoorthun made it three-wide heading into Brooklands but tagged the rear of Fairclough’s car. His lost his front wing, and later retired in the pitlane.
Having started sixth and fought past Xcel’s title contender Patrick Heuzenroeder early on, Al Azhari eventually joined the battle. He wrestled his way past Fairclough through Brooklands and Luffield, only for Fairclough to edge back ahead, but the Alpine junior then swept around the outside at Copse to complete the move.
Al Azhari quickly reeled in Pradel, but was unable create an overtaking opportunity as Ninovic cruised home to his fourth win of 2025.
Heuzenroeder lost out in a further dice with Elite Motorsport’s Will Macintyre and came home sixth.
Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 Yuanpu Cui survived a fierce three-way battle with Hillspeed team-mate Michael Shin and Macintyre early on before taking the flag in seventh. Velocity Racing Development’s Red Bull junior Enzo Tarnvanichkul was eighth, with JHR’s Kai Daryanani ninth.
Rodin’s Abbi Pulling climbed into the top 10 but then was shuffled back to 12th by the finish behind Shin. David recovered from the pitlane to 17th, one place behind Xcel’s Jack Sherwood who spun down the order in early collision at Brooklands.
VRD’s Patricio Gonzalez was another retiree after suffering a shredded rear-left tyre.
