F1 Academy has added a wildcard entry to its grid for its Zandvoort round this weekend with Nina Gademan to compete at her home track in a Prema-run car.
The series is arranging one-off drives for local racers at selected rounds this year in collaboration with commercial partners, each time utilising an additional fourth Prema car.
Under this initiative, GT racing regulars Reema Juffali and Courtney Crone were given the chance to race in Jeddah and Miami respectively, but no Spanish driver was handed such an opportunity for round three at Barcelona.
With a background primarily in touring car racing and esports, Dutchwoman Gademan is contesting her maiden single-seater campaign this year in British Formula 4 with Fortec Motorsports. The 20-year-old scored her best finish of 11th in the most recent round in Knockhill.
The previous event took place at Zandvoort, where Gademan was joined on the grid by F1 Academy regulars Bianca Bustamante, Jessica Edgar, Aurelia Nobels and Carrie Schreiner as they looked to learn the track ahead of this weekend.
Abbi Pulling leads the F1 Academy standings with four wins and two second-places from the six races held so far, and has also been racing in British F4 where she sits sixth in the points but will miss the next two rounds due to calendar clashes.
Gademan is one of three other women racing regularly in British F4 this year along with former F1 Academy competitor Chloe Chong and single-seater rookie Ella Lloyd, who is 11th in the standings with two podiums and eight other points finishes to her name.
