Nicola Marinangeli will return to single-seaters this year with AIX Racing in the FIA Formula 3 Championship.

The 21-year-old Italian started his car racing career in Italian Formula 4, where he failed to score in all 24 of the races he contested, then from two years in F4 United Arab Emirates he claimed a win and nine other podiums.

Next up was Formula Regional, and from 2020 to 2022 he raced in the Formula Renault Eurocup, FRegional Asian Championship and FRegional European Championship. Two ninth places were his best results from 79 races.

He gained experience of F3-level machinery in that time too, contesting the first three rounds of the 2022 Euroformula season and coming 12th in the standings with two sixth places.

“Such a great honor for me to join the FIA F3 grid with AIX Racing this year,” said Marinangeli. “It will be an interesting challenge for me, considering the two years racing in GT3. Couldn’t be more motivated for this experience. Let’s see what this year brings to us.”

Marinangeli got his first taste of sportscars in Ferrari Challenge Europe late in 2022, then he signed with AF Corse to co-drive the GT3 version of the Ferrari 488 and Ferrari 296 in GT World Challenge Europe’s Sprint Cup and in International GT Open. He came sixth in the latter with one victory, and won twice in 2024 to improve to third in the points.

Alongside that he has also driven for Dragon Racing in the Asian Le Mans Series’ GT3 class the past two seasons.

AIX still has one driver yet to be announced in its 2025 FIA F3 line-up, with Marinangeli partnering reigning Eurocup-3 champion Javier Sagrera.
