ACI Sport has revealed new 2020 calendars for Formula Regional European Championship and Italian Formula 4.
The two Italy-based championships had their seasons disrupted early by the global coronavirus pandemic, and had additional complications of being a support to the separately promoted Euroformula on several occasions so rescheduling had to not clash with the GT Sport organised series.
Both FREC and Italian F4 will start their seasons sharing a bill with Euroformula at the Hungaroring on July 10-12, a trip which was on the original schedule, with F4’s postponed Misano round coming in two weeks later.
FREC reunites with Euroformula at Paul Ricard on August 20-23, with all three series running together at the Red Bull Ring as originally planned on September 11-13.
October begins with a return to Italy at Mugello, where Euroformula may well join the ACI Sport paddock as a supporting series. Two weeks later comes the postponed Monza round, which was meant to be the season opener, and the month ends with FREC heading to Barcelona as a Euroformula support.
The remaining two postponed rounds for both FREC and Italian F4 have found new dates at the end of the year, with Imola hosting on November 20-22 and Vallelunga on December 4-6.
Official test dates have also been added to the calendar, with Vallelunga hosting the sole pre-season group test on June 2, while Mugello, Monza and Imola are used as venues later into the year. Private testing can continue to take place during May where circuits have reopened for use.
