The teams that will appear on the Formula Regional European Championship grid next year have been named in a joint announcement by the FIA and the championship-organising Italian motorsport federation.

There will be 10 in total, the same number as was selected for 2025. However KIC Motorsport is yet to enter any rounds this season, and Akcel GP has instead entered five rounds despite not being pre-selected by ACI and the FIA for the campaign.

Neither Akcel or KIC will be racing in FREC next year, and dropping off the grid after three seasons will be Sainteloc Racing.

Finnish team KIC had been one of FREC’s founding teams, and from 2019 to 2024 claimed four wins, five runner-up finishes, seven other podiums and five pole positions.

Akcel has gone points-free in its debut campaign this season, while French outfit Sainteloc has claimed one victory, two second places, a third and one pole position since 2023.

Returning to FREC in 2026 will be Dutch team MP Motorsport, while Rodin Motorsport becomes only the second British team to compete following Arden’s spell on the grid from 2021 to ’23.

When MP first raced in FREC in 2021, it competed under its own name and also ran the FA Racing team. It dropped its secondary squad after two seasons, then left the championship entirely at the end of last year.

Under its own name as an entrant, MP accumulated two wins, seven second places, three other podiums and three poles.

Rodin heads to FREC with no FRegional experience, but proven race-winning form in Formula 2, the FIA Formula 3 Championship, GB3 and several Formula 4 championships.

FREC will swap its long-serving Tatuus T-318 car for the second-generation T-326 chassis in 2026, and switch to Autotecnica-built Toyota engines after many years using Alpine-badged units in a commercial deal. The FIA will also be more involved in the organisation of the championship alongside ACI Sport.
