The Lazarus team have confirmed that Kevin Giovesi will race for them in the coming GP2 Series season.
Italian driver Giovesi will contest his debut season in the category as teammate to Rene Binder, having tested alongside the Austrian throughout winter testing, impressing with some good performances.
The 19-year-old steps up from Formula 3. Last year he dominated the Copa class of the F3 Open, and also finished sixth overall in his older F308 chassis. He also returned to Italian F3, where he had competed in 2010 and 2011, for a partial campaign and won three races.
?I?m so excited about this great opportunity,? said Giovesi. ?The jump from F3 to GP2 is very high, but the test sessions in Jerez and Barcelona gave me a very good feeling, so I think I?m well prepared for racing in GP2 Series.
?It will be a tough season: I will have to learn the circuits very fast but, with the help of the team that I really want to thank, I can made a good job starting from the first race in Malaysia.?
The GP2 Series season begins in Malaysia on 23 March, with six seats with drivers not confirmed.
