DAMS driver Kevin Magnussen managed to convert his pole position to victory in race one of the Formula Renault 3.5 round at Spa, keeping Antonio Felix da Costa and Nigel Melker at bay in the closing stages.

The Dane managed to keep a good lead to Felix da Costa for the bigger part of the race when a shunt between Nico Muller and Yann Cunha brought out the safety car, effectively eliminating the gap. Throughout the final laps, Magnussen had to defend from the Portuguese driver but ultimately prevailed, taking his second win of the season.

Melker, who started the race in tenth, was putting on the drive of his lifetime, overtaking cars left and right before the safety car and getting the jump on Arthur Pic during the restart to take third. Pic himself finished fourth, ahead of Marco Sorensen and Nikolay Martsenko.

Brazilian Andre Negrao took seventh ahead of Daniil Move, while Carlin duo Jazeman Jaafar and Carlos Huertas rounded out the points.
