Kanato Le fastest for Hitech in GB3 test day at Snetterton

Hitech GP’s Kanato Le was fastest in GB3’s test day on Snetterton’s 300 layout on Wednesday.

Le previously raced for Hitech in Formula 4, and this year has made a GB3 cameo with Chris Dittmann Racing but has primarily been racing in Formula Regional Europe with G4 Racing. His one weekend in GB3 resulted in two top-six finishes, and he has scored points once in FREC.

He set a 1m41.433s to top the opening Snetterton test session, going fastest by 0.338 seconds over JHR Developments’ John Bennett. Elite Motorsport’s McKenzy Cresswell was 0.6s behind in third, and CDR’s Seb Murray was 0.788s back in fourth.

In session two, Le improved to 1m41.389s to go fastest again but this time by just 0.049s. Bennett was his closest rival once more, with JHR’s Patrick Heuzenroeder 0.157s off the pace in third.

Laptimes were slower in session three, and Murray set a 1m41.981s to top the times by 0.074s over team-mate Flynn Jackes. Elite’s Jarrod Waberski trailed Murray by 0.183s in third.

Le returned to the top in session four and set the test’s fastest lap: a 1m41.315s. He was quickest in that session by 0.16s over Bennett, with gaps of 0.21s and 0.368s to Heuzenroeder and Waberski respectively. Cresswell and Fortec Motorsports’ Alex Kattoulas also set personal bests, although the latter – who is currently ninth in the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Clubman championship – was bottom of the timesheet.

GB4 also had four test sessions, but they were only attended by Arden’s Leon Wilson and Elite’s Nick Ellis. Wilson set a 1m50.930s to top session one, improved to 1m48.373s in session two, was fastest again with a 1m49.217s in session three then set a 1m48.983s in session four to end the day 1.405s faster than his sole rival.
