Joshua Duerksen will remain in the Formula 2 paddock for a fourth year, having signed with Hitech GP to contest the 2027 season.
The 23-year-old Paraguayan-German has been a multi-time race-winner in each of his three seasons to date, and is in contention to make the top four in the standings this year should the final two scheduled rounds in the Middle East go ahead.
For his first two seasons, Duerksen was part of AIX Racing’s line-up and he ended the year with victory in the feature race at Yas Marina Circuit both times. He was 10th in the points table as a rookie, and improved to ninth in the standings last year.
Invicta Racing won both titles in 2025, and Duerksen joined the team for 2026. Although he started a second successive season with a sprint race victory, this time in Melbourne, and has won three more times since then including doing the double at Monza, he is only eighth in the standings at present.
“I’m incredibly excited to be joining Hitech for the 2027 F2 season,” said the Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 junior.
“Hitech has shown for many years that it is one of the strongest teams in F2 and I’m very proud to have the opportunity to race with them. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone, starting the work together and seeing what we can achieve.
“The new car for 2027 gives us another exciting challenge and I’m really motivated to get started. I want to keep developing, keep fighting for wins and the best results possible on all tracks. I’m confident that together we can achieve some great things next season.”
Jan Sumann, Hitech’s head of race engineering in F2, added: “[Duerksen] is a proven F2 race-winner and we’ve seen first-hand from the pit wall the speed and race craft he brings.
“He has continued to develop throughout his time in the championship and has shown that he can deliver results and perform under pressure. He brings valuable experience with him, particularly as we head into 2027 and the challenge of understanding the evolution of the F2 car.
“Joshua is ambitious, motivated and has already achieved a great deal in F2, but it’s clear that he is hungry for more. We’re looking forward to working with him and seeing what we can achieve together next season.”
