Hitech GP has announced that Joshua Dufek has left its FIA Formula 3 Championship line-up, and that Jesse Carrasquedo Jr will be taking his place for the next two rounds.
Dufek currently sits a points-free 25th in the standings after the first four rounds, with a best finish of 11th. The 20-year-old made his debut in the 2023 season finale with Campos Racing, and scored one point en route to 28th in the 2024 standings as he contested a full season with AIX Racing.
All 35 of Hitech’s points this year have come from Martinius Stenshorne, who won in Monaco last weekend, as Gerrard Xie has not finished higher than 16th in the team’s third entry.
“We are pleased to welcome Jesse to the team at this critical point of the season, with Barcelona marking the midpoint of the calendar,” said Hitech’s F3 team manager Paul Bellringer.
“He brings plenty of single-seater experience and I am sure he will make the most of this opportunity to demonstrate that he is ready to step up to the next level. It is disappointing for Joshua and Hitech that we will not be able to continue together for the remainder of the season. We wish him well for the future.”
Carrasquedo makes his debut at Barcelona this weekend, then will also race at the Red Bull Ring on June 27-29.
“I’m super excited to take the step up to FIA F3 and my thanks to Hitech for this opportunity. I’m ready to learn as much as possible and perform the best I can,” said the 18-year-old Spanish-born Mexican.
His main focus this year is the Formula Regional-based Eurocup-3. He came eighth in the winter series, and sits 11th in the standings of the main championship after the opening round.
Earlier in 2025 he came 15th in FRegional Middle East, an improvement on being 25th in the 2024 season. That year he also raced in Eurocup-3, with a win in his part-time campaign helped him come eighth in the standings, and he did the first four FRegional European Championship rounds but did not score.
Carrasquedo made Eurocup-3, FREC and Italian Formula 4 cameos in 2023, having started that year by coming 18th in F4 United Arab Emirates and then 19th in Spanish F4. He debuted in single-seaters the year before, winning races in NACAM F4.
