BRDC British Formula 3 race-winner Jamie Chadwick took a dominant pole position in the first ever qualifying session for the new all-female W Series.
In the rain-affected session, Chadwick continued her clean sweep of fastest times – following domination of both Friday practice sessions – setting a 1m58.894s, which was 1.730 seconds quicker than the second-fastest driver.
That second place belonged to Liechtenstein racer Fabienne Wohlwend, with Briton Sarah Moore rounding out the top three.
Ex-Formula Palmer Audi driver?Emma Kimilainen was second fastest in both practice sessions but was forced to settle for fourth place in qualifying, 2.779s off Chadwick’s benchmark.
Completing the top five was former Renault Formula 1 junior Marta Garcia, and GP3-experienced trio Alice Powell, Vicky Piria and?Beitske Visser. Powell ended everyone’s session prematurely when she beached her car into the gravel at the stadium section and brought out the red flag with just five minutes to go.
Despite losing out on running in FP1, Esmee Hawkey was still able to take the ninth-fastest time. The top 10 was completed by Polish driver Gosia Rdest, 5.584s off the pace. Formula 3 Americas regular Shea Holbrook was slowest in 18th, 8.218s adrift.
