Ivan Domingues will continue to drive for Van Amersfoort Racing in 2024 as he makes the full-time step up to the Formula Regional European Championship.

The 17-year-old Portuguese joined the Dutch team last year to race in Italian Formula 4, and he came 11th in the standings with one podium. He missed the final round to make his FREC debut with VAR at Zandvoort as a guest driver, and he also contested FREC’s season finale at Hockenheim. His best finish from those four races was a 16th place.

Domingues also came 11th in Italian F4’s sister series Euro 4, where he contested two of the three rounds, while as a car racing rookie in 2022 he came 16th in F4 United Arab Emirates with Xcel Motorsport, finishing on the podium twice, and was 15th in Italian F4 while driving for Iron Lynx.

“I am counting down the days to the start of the season,” said Domingues. “To be racing on the FREC grid full-time is an exciting step in my career. I did two rounds of the 2023 championship which has been very valuable in preparing for 2024.

“This year, we start with high motivation for the season. Based on the progress and work done so far, we know we can be competitive. We are eager to consistently fight for podium positions, but only after the first race weekend, we will conclude the rest of the season.”

Domingues will be team-mate to 2022 Brazilian F4 champion Pedro Clerot.

Another team to bring their 2024 FREC line-up up to two cars is ART Grand Prix, which has signed 18-year-old Ukrainian racer Yaroslav Veselaho to partner new Williams junior Alessandro Giusti.

Veselaho came 21st in French F4 last year, scoring points once, and is currently racing for Xcel in FRegional Middle East where he sits 28th in the standings after the first two rounds.
