Linus Granfors extended his GB4 points lead by winning a very wet second race of the weekend at Donington Park.

The Fortec Motorsports driver led home Elite Motorsport’s Finn Harrison and KMR Sport’s Lucas Blakeley, while the Swede’s two title rivals Alisha Palmowski (Elite) and Harry Burgoyne Jr (KMR) were fourth and fifth.

A heavy rain shower prior to the race necessitated use of wet tyres, and Granfors made the better start from the outside of the front row when the lights went out to beat polesitter Harrison into Redgate.

Arden’s Leon Wilson bogged down from third and lost out to Palmowski, Blakeley and Graham Brunton Racing’s Callum Baxter, and was then demoted a further place before completion of the opening lap by Burgoyne who made up three places to sixth.

After applying early pressure on Palmowski, Blakeley snatched third into Goddards at the end of lap two and was able to remain ahead despite Palmowski drawing back alongside through the Craner Curves on the next tour.

Granfors controlled proceedings at the front throughout to score his sixth win of the season, with Harrison coming home 1.2 seconds behind despite closing onto the tail of the race leader late on.

Blakeley faded slightly in the closing stages and finished a further 2s behind, though he was able to pull clear of Palmowski. Burgoyne’s pace also dropped off in the race’s second half but he resisted pressure from Baxter and Wilson until the finish.

Fox Motorsport’s Megan Bruce survived an early clash at Melbourne hairpin with her team-mate Branden Templeton to finish eighth ahead of KMR’s Chloe Grant while Templeton, having been spun around in the incident, recovered to edge Fortec’s Jack Taylor to 10th at the chequered flag.
