Gabriele Mini will step up to Formula 2 full-time with Prema in 2025 after a strong one-off debut in Baku this year.
The Sicilian started his single-seater career with Prema when he won the Italian Formula 4 championship in 2020, before two years in Formula Regional Europe with ART Grand Prix that culminated in second place in the 2022 standings.
He then stepped up to FIA Formula 3 with Hitech GP, winning the Monaco feature race and ending the year seventh in the points, before reuniting with Prema for his sophomore season, where he again won in Monaco and came within one corner of beating compatriot Leonardo Fornaroli to the title in the deciding race at Monza.
A couple of weeks later, Prema handed him an early F2 debut in Baku as substitute for Ollie Bearman, and he finished third in the sprint race.
“We are thrilled to continue working with Gabriele,” said team boss Rene Rosin. “We always kept him in very high regard, and after getting back with him for FIA F3, we are looking forward to making the next step together.
“Having an early start was a great opportunity for both, especially because we maximised it with some impressive results. Preparations for the year ahead have already started and the early signs are definitely promising.”
Mini’s career has been overseen by Nicolas Todt’s All Road Management firm and he will remain part of the Alpine Academy next year.
“Very happy to be joining Prema in FIA F2 and to keep working together for another season,” he said. “We showed excellent potential and speed throughout the whole year in Formula 3. After the great run at Baku, I hope we will keep working that way to try and fight at the front end of the championship again. I’m grateful for the opportunity and I want to thank All Road Management, Alpine, and everyone involved.”
