Formula Regional Middle East points leader Freddie Slater has added a GB3 programme with Hillspeed to his 2025 schedule.
Slater’s main focus this year will be his FRegional title attacks with Prema. He is racing for its sister Mumbai Falcons in the Middle East, then will be in one of its own entries for the European championship.
He joined the Italian team in Formula 4 in 2022, taking pole on his E4 (nee Euro 4) debut, making the podium in the support races to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and also racing in Macau. Last year he romped to the F4 United Arab Emirates and Italian F4 titles, was E4 runner-up and made his FRegional debut with Prema.
There was also a GB3 cameo with Rodin Motorsport in which he claimed two top-five finishes, but he has picked Hillspeed for his return to the championship as it introduces a new car.
“I’m excited to be racing in the new GB3 car with a British team, and I am looking forward to maximising the opportunity of racing with Hillspeed,” said the 16-year-old. “Although I can’t complete the whole championship, we will do our best to fight for wins.”
GB3 rounds that do not clash with his FRegional Europe campaign include the Silverstone season opener, the trip to Spa-Francorchamps, August’s races on Brands Hatch’s Grand Prix layout and the Monza season finale.
“Freddie is, without question, one of Britain’s top young single-seater stars and his achievements so far in the space of just a couple of years in cars are simply sensational,” Hillspeed’s team principal Richard Ollerenshaw said.
“Of course, Freddie’s chief focus is his already confirmed FRegional campaign but the additional experience he will gain in the outstanding new GB3 car, during the race weekends and testing with ourselves, will be a major benefit as his career undoubtedly continues to reach new heights. We are very privileged to have a driver of Freddie’s quality, ability and standing in our GB3 team for the coming season.”
