Current Indy Lights driver and Formula Regional Americas champion Kyffin Simpson is to undertake an “immersive experience” with the Haas Formula 1 team at this weekend’s Miami Grand Prix.
Barbados-registered driver Simspon currently sits seventh in the Lights standing after taking a fifth-place finish at Barber Motorsports Park last weekend in his second season on the IndyCar ladder.
In addition to running in Indy Pro 2000 last year – where he finished eighth – he took the FRegional Americas title in convincing fashion, running under the Cayman Islands flag, beating Joshua Car by almost 100 points with seven victories.
In a co-ordinated effort with FRegional Americas, Simpson is set to be “fully engaged” with the American-owned Haas team during the Miami GP’s first appearance on the F1 calendar. It is first of two home races for the team this year.
Simpson will be active in Haas’s areas of the F1 paddock and will also sit in the debriefs with its race drivers Mick Schumacher and Kevin Magnussen, while reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi will also be present at the event.
“I’m super excited to be going to the Miami Grand Prix this weekend and to be hanging out with the Haas team,” he said.
“To see all aspects of F1, inside and out, will be a great learning opportunity for me. I can’t wait to watch the racing and be at this great new venue.”
In addition, Simpson will undertake media responsibilities and will do a social media takeover of FRegional Americas’ Instagram account during the weekend from within the paddock.
