Formula Regional European Championship rivals Enzo Deligny, Evan Giltaire, Tuukka Taponen and Ugo Ugochukwu have signed up to race against each other in the Macau Grand Prix.
The race will run for FRegional cars for the first time this year, on November 14-17, and award a World Cup for the category.
Giltaire, currently eighth in the FREC standings, will complete ART Grand Prix’s line-up alongside Kanato Le and James Wharton. The 17-year-old Frenchman won his home country’s Formula 4 championship last year and has taken a victory and a second place in FREC, where he is already racing for ART GP.
Deligny, Taponen and Ugochukwu will form R-ace GP’s line-up for Macau, with Ugochukwu moving across from Prema to join two of the team’s FREC drivers.
FRegional Middle East champion Taponen sits third in the FREC standings at present with four wins, Deligny is 10th in the points table with two fourth places, and Ugochukwu has one podium down in 14th in the standings.
All three are Formula 1 juniors. Taponen is part of the Ferrari Driver Academy, the 16-year-old Deligny is a member of the Red Bull Junior Team and Ugochukwu is in the McLaren Driver Development Programme.
Although he already has experience of Formula 3, the 17-year-old Taponen is yet to race on a street circuit since debuting in single-seaters back in 2021. However his fellow 17-year-old Ugochukwu has, as the American contested the FIA F3 World Cup-awarding 2023 Macau Grand Prix and finished 15th after qualifying ninth.
