Santiago Ramos will debut in the FIA Formula 3 Championship next year with Trident, completing its 2024 line-up.

The 19-year-old Mexican steps up from Formula Regional, where he has raced in the European championship for the last two seasons. In his rookie campaign he failed to score, then this year he was on the podium after five races and some strong points finishes meant he came 11th in the standings despite missing 15% of the season’s races.

Ramos competed part-time in Italian Formula 4 through his first three years in car racing, taking a best finish of fifth on three occasions and coming 16th in the 2020 standings.

“So happy to announce that I’m joining Trident Motorsport for the FIA F3 championship,” said Ramos.

“Working closely with them during post-season testing has been fantastic. I’m excited about this new chapter, ready to give it my all, and looking forward to making every race weekend a memorable experience. Huge thanks to Trident, Escudería Telmex, and my sponsors for this opportunity.”

He will be team-mate to second-year F3 racer Leonardo Fornaroli and FRegional rival Sami Meguetounif at Trident.

“It is with extreme delight and confidence that we welcome a young prospect like Santiago Ramos to our line-up,” said the team’s manager Giacomo Ricci.

“We are looking forward to doing a great job with him, and we think we have all the necessary resources to allow him to improve and make his way through the motorsport ladder. We like to invest in rookie drivers, who have yet to express their full talent. I am convinced that, together with Santiago, we will achieve our goals as in the team’s tradition.”
