Andretti Global’s Louis Foster took pole position for the Milwaukee 100, the penultimate race of the 2024 Indy Nxt season.

The championship leader was the only driver to average quicker than 151mph around the Milwaukee Mile and qualified 0.356mph quicker than his sole title rival Jacob Abel.

There was a tiny gap of 0.079mph, equating to 0.0252 seconds over two laps, between the Abel Motorsports man and Foster’s team-mate Jamie Chadwick in third, and HMD Motorsports’ Christian Brooks was a tenth of a second slower than her in fourth.

Propping up the timesheet was HMD’s Myles Rowe, who scraped along the wall during his run and was considerably off the pace. The rest of the field had a smooth session and the order featured no surprises.

Yuvan Sundaramoorthy held provisional pole early on, ahead of Josh Pierson and Ricardo Escotto. But as the rest of the field completed their flying laps, he was knocked down the order. Bryce Aron also briefly occupied top spot, as did Salvador de Alba on his run.

De Alba and Aron dropped back to sixth and seventh respectively, behind Caio Collet and ahead of James Roe. Sundaramoorthy and Callum Hedge completed the top 10.

After incidents in practice, HMD’s Reece Gold and Abel’s Taylor Ferns did not take part in qualifying and there will also be absent from the race. That meant only 16 drivers took part in the session. Ferns decided to sit out Saturday’s track action in a mutual decision with her team, while Gold was not cleared to compete after his turn two impact as “the g-force prompted a reexamination this morning” and IndyCar’s medical team deemed him unfit to return to the cockpit.
