Fortec Motorsport’s Henry Joslyn took two pole positions from the first British Formula 4 qualifying session of 2025.

Joslyn, who graduates from the Ginetta Junior championship, was the only driver to set a lap quicker than 1m05s around the Doingington Park National Circuit.

His fastest lap came late in the 25-minute qualifying session, and put him ahead of returning driver August Raber, who had topped both practice sessions held on Thursday for Argenti.

Ethan Jeff-Hall and Fionn McLaughlin spent the first half of the session swapping times at the top of the order. However, it was JHR Developments driver Rowan Campbell-Pilling who was top of the times midway through the session. He had set a time of 1m05.517s.

After a mid-session lull, where the drivers came into the pits for fresh tyres, lap times gradually started to improve again.

James Piszcyk joined the drivers fighting at the top of the times, but it was McLaughlin and Jeff-Hall once again swapping provisional pole for the majority of the run.

Late in the run, Joslyn jumped up to P1 with a time just over a tenth of a second quicker than Jeff-Hall. He then improved on the next flying lap to set a time of 1m04.968s.

McLaughlin and Raber improved on the following laps, but neither could challenge Joslyn’s time. Raber came closest, just 0.048s back, with McLaughlin a further 0.070s off the time.

Jeff-Hall took fourth quickest ahead of Piszcyk and Tommy Harfield, the fastest of the drivers running in the Challenge Cup for drivers not committed to the full season.

Thomas Bearman was the second-fastest rookie in seventh overall, while Campbell-Pilling slipped down the order to finish eighth.

Martin Molnar and Adam Al Azhari completed the top 10.

Joel Bergstrom and Harri Reynolds were two last-minute additions to the grid this week with JHR Developments and qualified 12th and 13th.
