The FIA Formula 3 Championship has announced the dates and locations of its post-season tests for 2024.
The most recent campaign concluded at Monza three weeks ago, with Trident’s Leonardo Fornaroli claiming the title despite not topping the podium in any of the season’s 20 races.
F3 teams will be back in action in two weeks’ time, with Jerez hosting the first post-season test on October 8/9. The Spanish circuit has hosted post-season tests in 2020 and each of the last two years, as well as in-season testing in 2021 and ’22.
The championship, and its predecessor GP3, has never raced at the 2.75-mile track and the last F3 race action there was when Euroformula visited in October 2018.
Barcelona will hold the second post-season test on October 15/16, with teams travelling to the opposite side of Spain from Jerez.
The Spanish Grand Prix venue has been a staple of FIA F3’s calendar for races and testing, and actually held the championship’s inaugural races in 2019. It also was the venue of the season opener in 2021, but the expansion of FIA F3 into Asia and into the first quarter of the year to follow more of Formula 1’s races meant that the track’s races marked the halfway point of the 2024 campaign.
It will once again host round five of 10 in 2025, when a new car from Dallara is introduced. That means the post-season test will mark the final on-track outing for the Dallara F3 2019 before it is retired from service by the paddock after six years of use in the championship and the FIA F3 World Cup in Macau.
