GP3 and Indy Lights podium-finisher Felipe Guimaraes topped the 35-minute qualifying session for the 2013 running of F3 Brazil Open event at Interlagos.
The 21-year-old Brazilian emerged as the pacesetter among the lineup for this year’s event which, in comparison to 2012, has attracted only half the amount of drivers.
Among them is Venezuelan European F3 Open graduate Roberto La Rocca, who came within less of a second of the polesitter’s time in what was a predominantly wet session.
Starting from third, surprisingly, is one of the two “Class B” machinery drivers – Eduardo Banzoli – while returning driver Raphael Raucci will start alongside him on the second row, after finishing fourth in the 2012 event.
The last of the “Class A” drivers on the grid is Russian GP3 graduate Dmitry Suranovich, who will start fifth alongside local driver Gustavo Lima.
The event is set to consist of four races, with the first two determining the grid for the third one, which, in turn, will decide the starting order for the main race.
