Euroformula frontrunner Andreas Estner is to replace sportscar-bound Sophia Floersch at Campos Racing for this weekend’s Spa-Francorchamps round of the FIA Formula 3 Championship.

Estner has been racing in Euroformula in 2020 with Van Amersfoort Racing and sits second in the championship behind points leader Yifei Ye with three podium finishes from four races.

He moved to FIA F3 last year with Jenzer but finished 26th in the standings with zero points. In addition, he has had outings in BRDC British F3 and in Formula Regional Europe with VAR.

Floersch will prioritise her sportscar commitments with Richard Mille Racing in the European Le Mans Series at Paul Ricard this weekend alongside W Series runner-up Beitske Visser as preparation for the Le Mans 24 Hours next month.

“I’m very happy to make my comeback in the FIA Formula 3 Championship,” Estner said. “This is an excellent opportunity for me but at the same time I realise it is going to be a challenging weekend because I haven’t driven the Dallara F3 2019 car for quite a long time and Spa-Francorchamps isn’t the easiest track in the world!

“It is a quite technically-demanding circuit. But I’m looking forward to working with Campos Racing and feel ready for the challenge.”

Estner’s deal is just for this Spa round. Floersch is to return to her seat for the final two rounds at Monza and Mugello.
