Emmo Fittipaldi Jr has signed with MP Motorsport for a second year in Formula Regional, which will be focused on Eurocup-3.

The youngest son of two-time Formula 1 and IndyCar champion Emerson Fittipaldi joined MP for FIA Formula 3 tests at the end of last season at Jerez and Barcelona (pictured), though he didn’t remain in its line-up for the final test at Imola.

He will instead begin 2024 in the FRegional Middle East Championship with the Dutch squad before turning his attention to Eurocup-3.

Fittipaldi raced the full FRegional European Championship last year with Sainteloc Racing, scoring four points, and also joined the Eurocup-3 grid with Palou Motorsport for two events.

“I’m really excited about the prospect of racing with MP Motorsport in both Eurocup-3 and the FRMEC,” said Fittipaldi.

“Both series are extremely competitive, which will help me in my quest to progress further up the single-seater ladder. I’m anxious to get going at Yas Marina this weekend and take on a lot of other talented young drivers.“

Team boss Sander Dorsman, whose outfit will also run Nikhil Bohra and Bruno del Pino in FRMEC, said: “Emmo demonstrated notable qualities last year that drew our attention. Now he’s part of the MP Motorsport fold and we aim to extract the best of his talent all year – starting this weekend in the Emirates.”

While Fittipaldi will seemingly not be part of MP’s F3 roster, the team is still to announce any of its drivers for the 2024 series – although new Red Bull junior recruits Tim Tramnitz and Kacper Sztuka are both expected to be among them.
