MP Motorsport has completed its line-up for the new all-women F1 Academy series by signing Emely de Heus.

The 20-year-old Dutch knows the team well, having made her single-seater debut in the Spanish Formula 4 championship with MP in 2021. She came 29th in the standings with a best finish of 14th.

Last year she was selected to race in W Series, a Formula Regional-spec series exclusively for women racers, and she scored on her debut but was the lowest placed full-time driver in the standings down in 17th.

To prepare for F1 Academy, de Heus started 2023 by returning to F4 in the United Arab Emirates championship. She contested the first three rounds of the season with MP and 21st was her best race result.

“It feels great to be back with MP, they are like a second home to me”, said de Heus. “I had a wonderful time with MP back in 2021, and with the added experience that I gained with them I look forward to putting that to good use in my first season in F1 Academy.

“I can’t wait to get started for the first round at the Red Bull Ring in April and will especially enjoy racing in front of my home crowd at Zandvoort in June.”

MP’s team principal Sander Dorsman added: “I’m delighted to welcome Emely back into the MP fold. She proved to be a great asset in 2021, and I have no doubt that she will feature strongly in F1 Academy’s first year of action.”
