Duerksen completes clean sweep of day two of Abu Dhabi F2 test

Joshua Duerksen was quickest again in the afternoon session to complete a clean sweep of day two of the Abu Dhabi post-season Formula 2 test.

In his debut F2 test, Red Bull junior Arvid Lindblad was the first to set a competitive laptime 10 minutes in, and improved by another six tenths of a second a couple of laps later.

That remained the benchmark until Max Esterson went two seconds quicker just before the hour mark, posting a 1m36.705s.

While other teams remained focused on longer runs, Esterson’s Trident team-mate Sami Meguetounif got within 0.005s of his time.

The Prema pair of Gabriele Mini and Sebastian Montoya had been the only other drivers to get within one second of the pace – until the final three minutes of the session when Duerksen set two fastest sectors on his way to a 1m36.433s.

That was 0.172s quicker than Esterson’s time but 0.95s off the time he set in the morning.

Duerksen hands his AIX Racing car over to Argentine sportscar ace Nico Varrone for Friday’s final day of running.

Rodin Motorsport duo Alex Dunne and Christian Mansell lifted themselves up from the bottom of the timing screens to go sixth and seventh with their final laps, while Lindblad’s effort remained good enough for eighth.
