Cusick Morgan Motorsports has completed its driver line-up for its first season in Indy Nxt by signing Juan Manuel Correa.
The 26-year-old raced part-time this year for HMD Motorsports, which will have a technical alliance with Cusick in 2026 to support its expansion into Indy Nxt.
In his rookie campaign, which consisted of nine races, Correa claimed one podium in Detroit but his best starting position was only eighth place.
“Last season fueled my desire to become a top competitor in Indy Nxt and ultimately make the climb to IndyCar,” said Correa.
“Joining a team new to the series is an exciting challenge, giving me the chance to contribute my feedback and help build something we can all be proud of. Their technical alliance with HMD, where I raced last year, gives me confidence that we can compete at the front, fight for wins and be a real force on the grid.”
It will mark Correa’s sixth year in second-tier single-seaters, but when he first reached this level on the ladder his career was interrupted by a horrific Formula 2 crash at Spa-Francorchamps in 2019 that claimed the life of Anthoine Hubert.
After spending time in a coma, Correa had extensive surgery then had to relearn how to walk. He had been a winner in Italian Formula 4 and the Toyota Racing Series, and was a Sauber junior in 2019. He made the podium twice before his rookie F2 campaign ended abruptly.
Correa returned to racing in 2021 via the FIA Formula 3 Championship, and claimed one podium across two seasons. Next up was F2, and a feature race podium was the highlight of his next two years.
Experience in LMP2 sportscars was also gained, with Correa winning in the 2022 European Le Mans Series and racing in the 2023 World Endurance Championship. He did IMSA’s endurance rounds in an LMP2 car this year.
“Juan Manuel brings experience, resilience and undeniable confidence in the Indy Nxt car, making him a standout addition to our program,” said Cusick’s team owner Don Cusick.
“We are committed to giving him every tool necessary to succeed and are excited to see him push the team forward as we make our series debut.”
The team’s co-Owner Billy Morgan added: “I cannot wait to get to work with Juan Manuel both on and off the track. We have had some fantastic conversations leading to this moment, and I am extremely proud to have him in our seat for our inaugural season.”
