Campos Racing adds Jorge Campos to its Eurocup-3 line-up

by Ida Wood

Campos Racing is growing its Eurocup-3 line-up to five cars with the addition of Jorge Campos.

The Mexican graduated from his home country’s karting scene to single-seaters in 2021 with Teo Martin Motorsport, and the highlight of his rookie Spanish Formula 4 campaign was a ninth place at Valencia’s Ricardo Tormo circuit.

Two points finishes through the year for Campos, who is of no relation to the eponymous family that runs Campos Racing but has been part of its driver development programme, put him 22nd in the championship standings.

He switched teams to Formula de Campeones for 2022 but only ended up doing the opening Spanish F4 round. The 19-year-old is now embarking on a test programme with Campos Racing in the Formula Regional-based Eurocup-3 car before he makes his debut in the new series.

The second round takes place at Motorland Aragon this weekend, but the team has not confirmed if he will be on the grid there or not.

“Super excited to join Campos Racing in Eurocup-3, after a year away from motorsport,” said the teenager. “I’m coming back stronger and hungrier than I’ve ever been, it’s a huge honor to come back home with Campos Racing and finally get the chance to prove who we are and what we’re capable of doing.”

Team principal Adrian Campos Jr added: “I’m pleased to welcome Jorge on behalf of Campos Racing. He is a driver with whom we have closely worked for a long time. I’m sure that Eurocup-3 is the right platform that will allow him to develop his full potential.”
