James Calado set the quickest time on a second rain-affected day of GP2 Series pre-season testing at Barcelona.
The Englishman set a best lap of 1m50.218s during the morning session. Fellow second-year driver Felipe Nasr took second, seven tenths adrift. Rookie Adrian Quaife-Hobbs was 1.4 seconds behind compatriot Calado in third place, just ahead of Rene Binder.
Calado?s ART Grand Prix teammate Daniel Abt was fifth ahead of fellow GP3 graduate Mitch Evans. Tom Dillmann was seventh for newcomers Russian Time, with Marcus Ericsson, Johnny Cecotto and Kevin Giovesi rounding out the top ten.
There was more rain in the afternoon, meaning that the session-topping Cecotto fell 2.5 seconds adrift of Calado?s morning benchmark. Calado finishing up second this time with Nasr also in the top three again.
Giovesi kept Lazarus near the front in P4 ahead of Quaife-Hobbs. In sixth, Simon Trummer of Rapax separated Quaife-Hobbs from his MP Motorsport teammate Daniel De Jong, with Julian Leal, Tuesday pacesetter Stefano Coletti and Dillmann rounding out the top ten.
One final day of testing remains tomorrow before the opening race weekend of the season at Sepang in Malaysia on 22-24 March.
