Bruno del Pino will remain at MP Motorsport for his second season in Eurocup-3, and warm up for it by racing in Formula Regional Middle East.
The 17-year-old Spaniard came seventh in the inaugural season of the FRegional-based Eurocup-3 championship, with two fourth places being his best results. His points-scoring form meant he comfortably topped the rookie standings.
In 2022 he represented his country in the Motorsport Games Formula 4 Cup, coming fifth in the qualification race and third in the medal-awarding main race, and also raced in Spanish F4 for Drivex School, a team co-founded by his uncle Pedro de la Rosa. He came 16th in the standings there, and two sixth places were the high points of his first single-seater campaign.
“I’m very happy to stay with MP Motorsport for a second attack on Eurocup-3,” said del Pino. “Last year the team and I worked very well together. By building on the experience I gained in my first season, I hope to be among the frontrunners this year. In addition, my participation in the ever-growing FRME will help me in my preparation for my regular season in Eurocup-3.”
MP’s team manager Sander Dorsman said del Pino has already become “part of the MP Motorsport family” and the team is “pleased that he has once again expressed his confidence in us for the new season”.
The entry list for round one of the FRME season, which takes place at Yas Marina Circuit this weekend, has revealed that MP will be running four drivers. Alongside the already announced Nikhil Bohra and del Pino will be Emmo Fittipaldi and Rinicella.
Fittipaldi, the 16-year-old son of two-time Formula 1 and one-time CART champion Emerson, came third in Danish F4 back in 2021 but could only come 23rd in the standings when he moved across to Italian F4 for 2022. Last year he stepped up to FRegional European Championship with Sainteloc Racing and scored four points, and took a point from his two rounds in Eurocup-3.
Rinicella has already been confirmed as partnering Bohra in MP’s FREC line-up for 2024, and last year he came fourth in F4 United Arab Emirates then third in Spanish F4.
