Former Ferrari Academy member Brandon Maisano has confirmed his participation in the final three rounds of the 2013 European F3 Open season with Italian team DAV Racing.

Maisano, 20, has been on the sidelines since a disappointing Italian F3 campaign in 2012. The French driver will be DAV’s only F312 entry, racing alongside the team’s two Copa class drivers – Nicolas Pohler and Gerardo Nieto.

Maisano enjoyed a few successful years in karting prior to kicking off his single-seater career in Formula Abarth in 2010. He became series champion in his rookie year and was subsequently hired by the Ferrari Driver Academy, securing a promotion to Italian F3.

Despite five individual race victories over two years, he was? didn’t manage to win the series title in either 2011 or 2012, which led to him being let go by Ferrari. Since then, the 20-year-old has not raced competitively in single-seaters, despite having driven in the Eurocup Formula Renault pre-season tests with Prema Powerteam.
