Reigning E4 champion Akshay Bohra has joined R-ace GP’s Formula Regional European Championship line-up, while Zachary David has left the team for CL Motorsport.
Akshay Bohra took two wins, two other podiums and two poles from the nine-race 2024 E4 season, enough to make the US Racing driver champion of the series formerly known as Euro 4 by 18 points.
He was also fourth in the sister Italian Formula 4 championship and 11th in Spain’s Formula Winter Series at the start of the year, and in 2023 he won races en route to third in both E4 and Indian F4.
The 17-year-old American-Indian will join R-ace for FRegional Middle East as well as FREC, and he is the team’s first signing for 2025.
“I look forward to this next step in my racing journey,” said Bohra. “With R-ace’s vast experience and knowledge combined with my drive and hard work, I have complete confidence in our competitiveness for the 2025 campaign. Here’s to another year of having fun, learning, and doing my best,”
R-ace’s team principal Thibaut de Merindol added: “I am glad to welcome Akshay to our 2025 FRME and FREC driver line-up. We got to know each other quite well since 2022 through our F4 and FREC training programmes. Therefore, I am confident that Akshay will have everything required to perform immediately at the top of FRegional.”
Bohra’s former F4 team-mate Zachary David came fourth in FRME and 13th in FREC with R-ace this year, taking four podiums in the former and one in the latter as a category rookie. Before that he spent one-and-a-half years in F4, winning twice to place fifth in the 2023 FWinter Series standings, coming seventh in E4 and Italian F4 and winning a race with R-ace in F4 United Arqab Emirates.
The Italy-based Chinese-owned CL Motorsport team takes the place of MP Motorsport on the FREC grid, and David is its first signing.
“I’m truly happy to join CL Motorsport. The Italian team’s base in Desenzano del Garda holds a special place in my heart, as I spent some of the best days of my life there during my karting days,” said David. “The 2025 season will be an exciting challenge, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Team co-ordinator David Li commented: “We are delighted to have reached this agreement with him. We are confident that Zac represents the perfect balance of speed and experience, and we can’t wait to begin this exciting journey together.”
