ART Grand Prix has finalised its three-car line-up for this year’s Formula Regional European Championship with the signing of Formula 4 graduate Marcus Amand.
The French-Finnish driver was the European junior karting champion in 2019 and stepped up to car racing two years later with R-ace GP in ADAC F4, where he finished 12th as a rookie.
Switching to US Racing for 2022, he contested a full season in the Italian F4 championship and placed ninth in the standings with one podium finish. He also picked up one podium from two rounds contested in the ADAC series.
“Marcus has had a spectacular career in karting and his transition to single-seaters has been courageous with two foreign championships to manage at a very young age,” said ART team boss Sebastien Philippe.
“At the end of last year, he integrated perfectly into the team during the FREC trials and his thirst for learning, as well as his ability to put the team’s advice into practice and his speed convinced us that he had all the qualities to succeed in such a competitive context.”
Amand is one of two drivers in ART’s line-up graduating from F4 for 2023, the other being FRegional Oceania leader Charlie Wurz, while Laurens van Hoepen enters his second season in the championship.
“I discovered ART Grand Prix from the inside at the end of 2022, and I loved the atmosphere and the seriousness of the team and I have acclimatised well,” Amand said.
“The car is difficult to understand at the start and very different from the one I drove in F4. But the team is very attentive and with their help I progressed throughout the run to finish with a strong performance. We have laid a good foundation and I am looking forward to this new challenge with ART Grand Prix.”
