Andretti Global has announced the addition of Max Taylor to its Indy Nxt line-up for the 2026 season.
The 18-year-old did a part-time campaign in the championship this year with HMD Motorsports, with a best finish of fourth at Laguna Seca and a highest qualifying position of third achieved on his second outing of six on the streets of Detroit.
Taylor also raced full-time one step below Indy Nxt in IndyCar’s support paddock for Velocity Racing Development, coming sixth in USF Pro 2000 with one victory and three other podiums. Earlier this month he also made a GB3 cameo with Race Lab.
“I am beyond excited to be joining Andretti Global for the 2026 Indy Nxt season,” said the American.
“I am incredibly honored to be a part of a team with such a legendary history in motorsport. This is a huge step in my career and truly a dream come true. I can’t wait to get to work with the team.”
Next year will be Taylor’s fourth in single-seaters. He was sixth in the USF Juniors standings as a car racing rookie in 2023, then won the title in his sophomore campaign and also came third in USF2000 last year. His 2024 also featured a GB3 cameo.
“Credit goes to [Andretti’s head of driver development] JF Thormann for bringing Max to the team for 2026,” said team principal Rob Edwards.
“Conversations started mid-season in 2025 and moved quickly to include him as part of the Andretti Global Indy Nxt team.”
Taylor will be team-mate to Seb Murray, Lochie Hughes and one yet-to-be announced driver.
