Alex Dunne will join Hitech GP for this weekend’s British Formula 4 season opener at Donington Park.
The 16-year-old Irishman is currently in his second year of car racing, having started his single-seater career as a KCMG junior in Spanish F4 in 2021. He claimed pole on debut but only lasted three rounds before he switched to ADAC F4.
From three rounds in the German-based championship with US Racing he claimed two poles, two podiums and eighth in the standings. He then began 2022 with Hitech in F4 United Arab Emirates, winning twice and coming sixth in the points.
Since then, Dunne has tested with both teams and confirmed his Italian programme a week ago. His British F4 cameo brings Hitech’s line-up to four cars, with his team-mates being Oliver Stewart, Daniel Mavlyutov and Eduardo Coseteng.
“I’m really happy to be racing with Hitech in British F4 this weekend after a strong start to the year with the team in F4 UAE,” said Dunne.
“I look forward to building on that together. Even though the tracks in the UK are new to me, we’ve shown some promising pace in testing.”
The grid for the opening round now sits at 16 cars, with Hitech fielding the largest line-up.
“We are excited to welcome Alex onboard this weekend at Donington in the opening round of British F4,” Dominic Scott, Hitech’s team manager in British F4, said.
“He showed strong pace in F4 UAE over the winter months as we got to grips with the new generation car. Hopefully we can pick up where we left off and have a good weekend.”
