After posting the quickest time across the two practice sessions, Nicholas Latifi continued to be the pacesetter for the British Formula Three round at Spa-Francorchamps, taking double pole in qualifying.
It was a close fight for pole between the Carlin drivers, with Jordan King taking an early lead in the session. He maintained first place until he was dethroned by Latifi twenty minutes in, upon which the Canadian was seemingly untouchable, setting two best laps that will allow him to start from pole in races one and three.
King was second in the session, followed by another Carlin driver Jann Mardenborough. In the battle for being “the best of the rest”, Antonio Giovinazzi narrowly bested Fortec’s Felipe Guimaraes, despite being slower than the Brazilian in the first half of the session.
Giovinazzi’s teammate Tatiana Calderon took sixth, keeping championship leader Will Buller behind, the Briton having struggled for pace throughout the 30-minute run. Sean Gelael rounded out the International Class cars.
In the National Class, Sun Zheng took pole ahead of Jordan Oon and Chris Vlok.
