Mikkel Grundtvig will remain at Fortec Motorsports for his second year racing in GB3.
The Dane came 13th in the points last year, a dissapointing placing in the final championship standings but with two reversed-grid wins to his name he was only beaten by the title top two and one other for times topping the podium.
The 19-year-old first raced single-seaters in 2018 in Danish Formula 4, and won two races. He returned in 2019 and won three more as well as racing in French F4. He switched to sportscars in Denmark for 2020, but returned to open-wheel cars.
“I’m super delighted to stay with the Fortec family for another year. 2021 was a crazy year in all aspects but the most I’ve learned in my career so far,” said Grundtvig.
“I will take all my experiences with me and even more for this season. I’m sure we will have a very successful year together in the new GB3 car and I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel with Fortec Motorsports.”
The Dane is the team’s first signing for this season, which will be slightly different as the series’ car has been upgraded to become a halo-shod machine.
“We’re really pleased to welcome Mikkel back to the team for the new GB3 season,” Fortec team manager Ollie Dutton said.
“To come back into single-seaters after a year in sportscars is pretty tough but he did a great job last year with his two wins, and we’re very confident that he’ll make further progress towards the sharp end with the new GB3 car in 2022.”
