Francisco Macedo topped the timesheets on the second day of FIA Formula 3 testing with the Van Amersfoort driver’s morning time enough to keep him at the top of the timesheets throughout the day.

Morning

Cars had barely made it on track before the red flag was flown after Giusti stopped in the pitlane at the start of the session with a technical issue which would keep him out of the remainder of the morning session.

It was his teammate though who took to the timesheets first, Pedro Clerot setting a 1m31.659 before the red flag was shown again, this time for Alexander Abkhazava who found the gravel at turn 3.

When running resumed, Campos’ Ernesto Rivera continued his strong test form, storming to the top of the timesheets with a 1m31.584.

Taito Kato was next to top the timesheets as the ART driver toppled the Mexican with a 1m31.463, Keanu Al Ahzari tucking into second, 0.003s adrift of the Japanese driver.

AIX’s James Egozi continued his strong form as the American moved to the front before Dion Gowda set a 1m30.935 moving 0.094s clear of his teammate.

Al Ahzari and Mattia Colnaghi swapped places at the top of the pecking order before Kato returned to the front with a 1m30.386.

Niccolò Maccagnani was next to take to the front, 0.084s clear of Kato with a 1m30.302 before the red flag was flown for the third time after Francisco Macedo stopped at turn 8.

When running resumed, Colnaghi set a 1m30.037 to move over two and a half tenths clear of the rest of the field before Egozi slotted into second, 0.192s behind the Argentine.

With just a handful of minutes left, Enzo Deligny dipped into the 1m29s to go fastest before his teammate, Macedo, toppled the Frenchman with a 1m29.766.

Any chance of improvements disappeared though when Maciej Gladysz stopped at turn 5 brining an end to a thrilling test session.

Macedo led Deligny with Clerot rounding out the top three. Behind them came Seewooruthun, Colnaghi, Al Ahzari, Kato, Olivieri, Powell and Egozi who completed the top ten.

Afternoon

Having missed the entirety of the morning session, Giusti was first to set a representative lap time in the afternoon, a 1m30.322 sending the Frenchman to the front.

Long runs were once again the focus for the majority of the afternoon with teams looking to get as much running in as possible.

Laps were briefly interrupted when Miguel Costa stopped on track in his DAMS bringing the red flag out with just under two hours remaining.

Nobody could toppled Giusti though as the Rodin driver ended the session top, ahead of Macedo and Jin Nakamura who completed the top three.

Formula 3 now takes a five day break as the paddock moves over to Barcelona for a further two days of testing.
