FIA Formula 3 race-winner Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak will step up to Formula 2 next year, joining the ART Grand Prix team.

The 20-year-old Thai graduates to Formula 1’s primary feeder series after a sophomore FIA F3 Championship campaign that ended with him jumping from 14th to seventh in the standings.

He only scored three times in the season’s first half, but won three times in the second half. That included victory in the Monza season finale, the first time he had finished in the top six of a feature race and only the third time he had scored in one across his two years with AIX Racing and then Campos Racing.

“I’m very proud to finally announce that I will be joining ART GP for my rookie season in F2,” said Inthraphuvasak.

“The team has proven over the years with its great successes, so I’m confident it’s the right environment for me to take this next step. I’m excited to start this new chapter and to work with everyone in the team ahead of the season.”

Last weekend Inthraphuvasak stepped down the single-seater ladder to Formula Regional to compete in the Macau Grand Prix, a key event for gaining street circuit experience ahead of racing in F2. He finished the grand prix in 16th place.

“Tasanapol delivered a solid season in FIA F3, with three wins and some strong performances,” ART GP’s team principal Sebastien Philippe said. “He now has the opportunity to take on the next step in F2, and we look forward to seeing how he adapts to this new challenge.”
