Mac Clark’s rookie campaign in USF Pro 2000 will end early, with recent budget issues ruling the Canadian out of this weekend’s season finale at Portland.
The 20-year-old has failed to meet expectations this year after his USFP2000 debut at Circuit of the Americas in 2023 resulted in two podiums, two fastest laps and a pole and led to him being tipped for further success once he made a full-time step-up to the championship.
But his rookie campaign with DEForce Racing, the team he won the 2022 USF Juniors title and came fifth in USF2000 with last year, has resulted in no further podiums and two fourth places have been his best results.
The most recent of those was last time out in Toronto, Clark’s home track, and his most competitive showing in 2024 as alongside a fifth place finish it meant he sits ninth in the standings. Had Clark remained on the entry list for Portland, he would have been in contention to end the season in the top five in the championship.
“It’s been a season full of learning and growth, and while we’ve faced some challenges, I’m incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of my partners,” said Clark.
“Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we will not be continuing the season. Together, my partners and I are now focusing on strengthening our programme for the 2025 season.”
He added: “Motor racing is a challenging sport, but with the continued support of my partners and the experience gained this year, I’m confident we’ll achieve even greater success in 2025. We are actively seeking additional partners to join us on this journey.”
