Red Bull junior Tim Tramnitz will step up to the FIA Formula 3 Championship this year with MP Motorsport.

Tramnitz was announced as a new addition to the Red Bull ranks at the end of his second season in the Formula Regional European Championship in 2023, when he finished third in the standings after taking three victories with the R-ace GP team.

The German took part in all three post-season F3 tests at Jerez, Barcelona and Imola with MP and has now been named by the team as its first signing for 2024.

“It’s wonderful to be able to step up to FIA Formula 3 with a team such as MP Motorsport,” said Tramnitz.

“They have won in every single-seater category that they have competed in, and I’m confident that their experience will contribute to being on the pace in FIA F3 straight out of the blocks. It was a joy to test the car at those three tracks, and I worked well with the team. So now let’s translate that to the races – I can’t wait to get started.”

Tramnitz is expected to be one of two new Red Bull recruits in the MP F3 line-up this year, after Italian Formula 4 champion Kacper Sztuka also tested with the team.

“We are truly happy to see Tim become a new member of our FIA Formula 3 driver line-up,” said team principal Sander Dorsman. “He has been a force to be reckoned with all through his time in FREC, so he is more than ready for his step up to the next level. The tests showed that he’s up there among the more experienced drivers. I’m sure that Tim will do the Red Bull name proud in 2024.”
