Enzo Fittipaldi will spend a fourth year in Formula 2 by joining Van Amersfoort Racing for next season.
The 22-year-old Brazilian made his series debut in 2021 with Charouz Racing System, contesting eight races and getting a best finish of seventh place. He stayed with the Czech team for 2022 and came eighth in the standings after making the podium six times.
Off the back of that campaign he was signed by Red Bull as a junior driver, having previously been a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, and he switched to Rodin Carlin for the 2023 F2 season. A win in the Spa-Francorchamps sprint race was one of five podiums Fittipaldi claimed during this year, and he came seventh in the standings.
“I’m very excited to be a part of VAR,” says Fittipaldi. “The team and I had a positive first experience working together during the F2 post-season test in Abu Dhabi last week. Right now, I am looking forward to next season, which will be a new challenge for all.
“Racing in the new 2024 F2 cars will be exciting, and I am confident that the team and I will have a great season together.”
In post-season testing VAR also ran FIA Formula 3 racer Rafael Villagomez, but is yet to announce who will be Fittipaldi’s team-mate next year.
“During the F2 post-season test, we have experienced that Enzo is a great character to work with,” said VAR’s team principal Frits van Amersfoort. “He is a great fit for our team, and his experience in F2 will be beneficial as we head into a new era of F2. We’re thrilled to have him on board and look forward to the upcoming season together.”
