Macau Grand Prix winner Luke Browning will remain at Hitech GP for his second year racing in Formula 3.
The 21-year-old won last year’s GB3 title and began 2023 by stepping up to Formula Regional. He contested two rounds of the Middle East championship and had a best finish of seventh, then a few months later Williams signed him as a junior.
He made another step up the single-seater ladder at the same time, moving up to the FIA F3 Championship with Hitech – who he had driven for in Formula 4, GB3 and FRME.
Browning took one podium finish and came 15th in the standings in his rookie season, but then in the FIA F3 World Cup-awarding Macau GP last month he claimed pole, won the qualification race and then the main race too.
“I’m super excited to announce I’ll be joining the grid with Hitech for the 2024 F3 season,” said Browning. “I have an abundance of faith in the team around me, with the things we learned throughout the season last year I believe we will be able to build on our skills and ability to execute which we showed a glimmer of most recently in Macau.
“This championship will never be easy with the standard of drivers but also with just the nature of the championship. However, having visited all of the tracks we’re going to next year once before, I believe puts us in a great position to score points in every race weekend going forward.”
Although Browning is a Williams junior, his first Formula 1 test came with Aston Martin this October due to wining the Autosport BRDC Award it is the title sponsor of.
“We’re delighted to have Luke racing with the team again in his second season of FIA F3,” Hitech’s F3 team manager Paul Bellringer said. “We’re confident in his ability to fight for wins and come away with a consistent set of results. Following our win in Macau together last month, we are eager to be fighting upfront from the get-go when the 2024 season commences.”
