GB3 and Euroformula race winner Bryce Aron has signed with Andretti Global to race in Indy Nxt next year.
Aron is Andretti’s second signing for the 2024 Indy Nxt season, with the team having also announced that James Roe Jr will continue with the squad for a second season.
The Illinois native last raced in the United States in 2019 when he finished third in the F1600 Championship Series. He then competed in Formula Ford 1600 in the Britain as a Team USA scholar, scholar, finishing fifth in the 2020 FFord Festival and third in the Walter Hayes Trophy, plus fifth in the BRSCC National championship.
For 2021 he moved into GB3 with Carlin and finished 12th overall, a position he matched in 2022 with Hitech GP when he won a reversed-grid race at Donington Park and scored two other podiums.
He’s been racing for the dominant Motopark team in Euroformula this year and has scored three wins so far, sitting fourth in the standings with one round to go – an event he will now miss to take part in his first Indy Nxt test on the Indianapolis road course.
“To say I’m excited to be joining Andretti Global is a vast understatement,” he said. “It’s really a dream come true, and I’m honoured to be a part of this amazing team. I’ve grown up watching the Andretti team win in Indianapolis, so it means everything to me to be able to learn from this talented group.
“I’m happy to be returning to the US to take this giant step towards my end goal of competing in IndyCar. I can’t wait to get started with the team and I believe we can achieve a lot together in 2024.”
Irish driver Roe meanwhile will enter his third year in the championship, having finished seventh this season – taking his first podium finish with a second-place in August’s race at Indianapolis.
This year’s leading rookie Nolan Siegel has also confirmed he will return to the championship next year. He will stay with HMD Motorsports, where he will be joined by Reece Gold, Christian Bogle and reigning Indy Pro 2000 champion Myles Rowe.
“I am anxious and excited to get back to work with HMD Motorsports,” said Siegel, who finished third in points in 2023 with two wins.
“My rookie year was a good one, and we set out to do what we wanted to do, but now I am fully focused on the championship. I will have the same engineer and same crew this season, providing consistency that will hopefully help in a championship run.”
