The calendars for the 2024 Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 seasons have been revealed, with two major changes for F2.
As all 14 rounds will support Formula 1, it means the series’ trip to Baku will now take place in mid-September rather than April as the Azerbaijan Grand Prix moves to later in the year.
The other big change is the loss of the August round at Zandvoort, which only joined the calendar last season, with it being replaced by a trip to Losail in Qatar. The circuit was visited by GP2, the predecessor of F2, back in 2009 and will host the penultimate round of the 2024 season.
Racing will begin early in the year, with the season-opening round at Bahrain taking place on February 29-March 2. F2 heads to Jeddah the week after, with both rounds concluding on a Saturday rather than a Sunday.
Two weeks later the paddock will reach Melbourne, which joined the calendar this year, then there is a break of two months before the European leg of the season begins.
As in 2023, there will be rounds at Imola (May 17-19), Monaco (May 23-26), Barcelona (June 21-23), the Red Bull Ring (June 28-30), Silverstone (July 5-7), the Hungaroring (July 19-21), Spa-Francorchamps (July 26-28) and Monza (August 30-September 1).
After Baku, there is a gap of two-and-a-half months in the racing schedule before the trip to Losail on November 29-December 1, then a week later is the season finale at Yas Marina Circuit.
FIA F3 will be on the support bill at the same tracks at this year, which are Bahrain, Melbourne, Monaco, Barcelona, the Red Bull Ring, Silverstone, the Hungaroring, Spa-Francorchamps and Monza.
Both series will be a round longer than 2023 due to wet weather leading to this year’s Imola round being cancelled once teams were already at the track.
