Abel Motorsports has made its second Indy Nxt driver announcement in a day, with the arrival of Yuven Sundaramoorthy turning it into a three-car team.

Last season the team joined Indy Nxt to run Jacob Abel, who had driven for them in USF Pro 2000 in the previous three years, and alongside his full-time entry they ran a part-time second car.

It has been a similar story in 2023, with Abel racing full-time in his sophomore season. Colin Kaminsky did the first five rounds as his team-mate, and Abel has been solo for the past two events.

At the next round in Nashville he will be accompanied by Francesco Pizzi, who was announced earlier today, and fellow USFP2000 graduate Sundaramoorthy who will pilot the car previously driven by Kaminsky.

Pizzi will then do the the race after at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Abel will be solo at the Gateway oval, have Sundaramoorthy as his team-mate at Portland, and be racing against both at the Laguna Seca season finale.

“I’m really excited to get the call from Abel Motorsports to drive the #57 Dallara in the Indy Nxt championship,” said Sundaramoorthy.

“The team has really been coming on strong lately and showing that they have the pace to compete, so for me this really gives me an opportunity to show what I can do in this series. I know the learning curve is going to be there switching to a bigger car with more power, but I think having the team-mates I do with me at Abel Motorsports will help shorten that curve.”

Sundaramoorthy will miss the USFP2000 finale at Portland to contest the Indy Nxt races there. He is already out of title contention, and currently sits 14th in the standings with a best finish of eighth achieved twice.

Last year he came 10th in the series with three podiums, and graduated to it after coming third in his third season of USF2000 in 2021.
