Campos Racing has brought its 2023 Spanish Formula 4 line-up to five drivers with the signing of Matteo de Palo.
The Italian karting graduate had already been announced as joining the team to make his single-seater racing debut in the upcoming Formula Winter Series.
Last year he contest one of the Italian automobile federation’s Ferrari scouting camps and did F4 testing in Italy and Spain.
“I’m very happy to begin this new chapter of my career in single-seaters with such an iconic team as Campos Racing, with whom I feel proud to be part of and I’ll do my best to deserve this seat,” said de Palo.
“I want to thank Campos for this opportunity, Pro Racing Motorsport Management for helping me to drive for Campos and Mixauto for supporting me.”
The highlight of the 15-year-old’s karting career was fifth place in the 2020 FIA Karting Academy Trophy for OK-Junior karts, and he also finished eighth in the Andrea Margutti Trophy, ninth in the Italian championship and 10th in the South Garda Winter Cup in junior karting.
After stepping up to OK karts towards the end of 2021, he finished 14th in the WSK Open Cup, 15th in the Champions of the Future Winter Series, 18th in the WSK Super Master Series and 19th in the CIK-FIA World championship.
“I would like to extend a warm welcome to Matteo,” said Campos’s team principal Adrian Campos Jr. “He showed his talent and speed immediately after his first outing with the F4 car. So we are looking forward to starting the new season to see him fighting for top honors. We are sure he will be right on the ball despite this year will be his debut single-seater season.”
